Ice Age: Continental Drift

This fourth installment in the "Ice Age" series continues its hopeless confusion of geological time on Earth. Our planet's original great big single continent began to break up and drift apart into the modern continents a few hundred million years before any of these creatures evolved, but never mind. This is no time to start putting the series to the test of realism.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

A pre-title sequence, which I vaguely recall appearing in an earlier film in the series, puts the blame for the continental breakup on Scrat the squirrel, who you will recall is obsessed with an acorn. If this is the same acorn we first saw Scrat pursuing, it is a remarkable nut indeed, having survived a decade's wear and tear. If it takes Scrat that long to secure one acorn, one wonders how many eons it took him to discover he liked to eat acorns in the first place. For that matter, even this acorn is never eaten; just as well, because I for one would sorta miss it, after all it's been through. My hope is that it survives long enough for evolution to produce oak trees, although don't get me started on which came first, the acorn or the oak. There are no oak trees to be found in this movie, or indeed much of anything in the way of vegetation.

Ice Age: Continental Drift [1] is the fourth film from the 5 part Ice Age franchise where Nicki Minaj voices a Woolly Mammoth named Steffie. It was released on July 13, 2012. It starts with Scrat still trying to capture the acorn. But messing up, he accidentally makes Sid, Diego, and Manny to set off drift. Diego later finds love with a Saber Tooth named Shira (voiced by Jennifer Lopez), after encountering a crew of animal pirates. Throughout the film, new characters are revealed, including Ethan (voiced by Drake) and Steffie (voiced By Nicki Minaj).

The continental drift forces all the other animals to migrate away from their homes. While adrift at sea on an iceberg, Manny and his friends, Sid and Diego, encounter a pirate ship, run by an ape named Gutt, and his first mate, the saber-tooth tiger Shira. The pirates abduct Manny and his friends. They eventually sink the ship, however, and break free.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to Ice Age: Dawn of Meat-Eating Man. Also needless to say, kids are likely to judge this Ice Age far less harshly. And they will ask you what continental drift means, so there is at least that modicum of learning involved.

One of filmdom's most beloved trios - Ice Age's Manny, Diego, and Sid - embark upon their greatest adventure after cataclysm sets an entire continent adrift. Separated from the rest of the herd, they use an iceberg as a makeshift ship, which launches them on an epic seafaring quest. Manny and the gang are challenged like never before to become heroes and do the impossible, as they encounter exotic sea creatures, explore a brave new world, and battle ruthless pirates. And Scrat's reunion with his cursed nut catapults him to places no prehistoric squirrel has gone before

There's considerably less drift in "Ice Age: Continental Drift," the latest in a long line of lucrative cartoons from Blue Sky Studios and their friends at Fox. It's all sight gags and action beats, which tends to cover the shortcomings these assembly-line farces are infamous for. And at a brisk 94 minutes, it's less reliant on charm-starved chatter among its increasingly over-stuffed voice cast.

Manny the mammoth (Romano), Diego the saber-toothed tiger (Denis Leary), Sid, the innocent but accident-prone sloth (John Leguizamo, always funny) and Sid's Granny (Sykes) are adrift on an iceberg, wondering how to get back to the others.

The castaway Ice Agers plot to foil the pirates, with the help of a gag borrowed from "Open Season." And back on dry, drifting land, we get a couple of life lessons in which the kid mammoth Peaches (Palmer) learns that "cool kids" who want you to abandon your old friends aren't cool.

Ice Age: Continental Drift (also known as Ice Age 4: Continental Drift) is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated adventure/comedy film in which Manny, Diego, Sid and Grammy b another adventure after their continent is set adrift. Using an iceberg as a ship, they encounter sea creatures and battle pirates as they explore a new world. Peaches also loves a fellow mammoth Eathan. He is really weird, and tends to scratch his crotch when Peaches looks at him. The film stars Ray Romaneo, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Peter Dinkalage, Wanda Syekes, with Jennifer Lopez and Queen Latifahh and John Henranus.

All this chaos was seemingly caused by Scrat, the twitchy squirrel-rat chasing that elusive acorn into the center of the Earth, causing a seismic ripple that fragments the outer crust that comprised the prehistoric land mass called Pangaea, setting new continents adrift. Undaunted, Scrat is determined to find an acorn-laden paradise called Scratchlantis. And having Scrat silently pursue his pantomime always pays off. 041b061a72
